Introduction to Electronic Commerce

This course is an introduction to electronic commerce. It discusses the three principle tenets of this discipline: technology, business and policy. Specifically, it covers such topics as EC components and services; electronic commerce for business and applications to publishing, retailing, supply chain, advertising and marketing, manufacturing, and banking; technical aspects/technologies involved in EC including database, data warehousing and data mining, networking and telecommunications technology, agent services; principles of security for commerce; electronic commerce policy and legal issues; and social and cultural issues. Students will learn the new and emerging EC technology and its impact on business.
