  • IGEC faculty are organizing a Workshop on Knowledge-based Electronic Markets to be held at the National Conference on Artificial Intelligence (AAAI-2000) on Monday, July 31 in Austin TX. The workshop will address the challenges, opportunities, and practical applications of knowledge-based electronic markets (eMarkets). ng, learning, and communication, e.g., in intelligent agents.
  • UMBC has partnered with Oracle to join the Oracle Academic Initiative and offer Oracle Certified Professional training courses beginning in January 2000. UMBC will provide students with Oracle-authorized curricula and exceptional resources for Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) exam preparation, the option to participate, free of charge, in the Oracle Academic Initiative's Job Recruitment Database, free Oracle software licenses for self study, and significantly discounted examination fees.   • A paper "A Declarative Approach to Business Rules in Contracts: Courteous Logic Programs in XML" was presented at the First ACM Conference on Electronic Commerce (EC-99), Denver, CO (November 1999). Authors: Benjamin Grosof, Yannis Labrou and Hoi Chan.
  • IGEC faculty organized a panel on Mobility and Electronic Commerce at the First ACM Conference on Electronic Commerce held in Denver on November 3rd.
