- IGEC faculty are organizing a Workshop
on Knowledge-based Electronic Markets to be held at the National
Conference on Artificial Intelligence (AAAI-2000) on Monday, July
31 in Austin TX. The workshop will address the challenges, opportunities,
and practical applications of knowledge-based electronic markets (eMarkets).

- UMBC has partnered with Oracle to join the Oracle Academic Initiative
and offer Oracle Certified Professional training courses beginning
in January 2000. UMBC will provide students with Oracle-authorized

in the Oracle Academic Initiative's Job Recruitment Database, free
Oracle software licenses for self study, and significantly discounted
